A 10-year-old boy faces charges of attempted murder and rape for an alleged assault on a woman while she was jogging in a park in France. The incident took place at Gouëdic Valley park in Saint-Brieuc, Brittany, where the child reportedly attacked a 22-year-old woman. Reports from Le Parisien state that the boy demanded the woman to undress, and when she refused, he allegedly stabbed her in the arm and abdomen before fleeing.
Authorities arrested a suspect matching the victim’s description nearly a week after the incident. Le Télégramme mentioned that investigators found a knife believed to be used in the attack, as well as clothing that matched the victim’s statement.
While official documents state the suspect is 10 years old, medical examinations suggest he might be older, possibly around 14, as per Le Télégramme. The Saint-Brieuc prosecutor refrained from speculating on the age issue, stating that the presented documents indicate the boy is 10.
The suspect, who arrived from Kinshasa, Democratic Republic of Congo, a year ago to live with his father, reportedly confessed to the attack during police interrogation.
