Previously, a “stop drive” directive was issued in June for specific Citroen and DS vehicles, and now, more cars under the Stellantis umbrella are deemed unsafe for operation.
The concern revolves around the Takata airbag systems in these vehicles, which may be defective. This cautionary measure follows a tragic incident where a woman in Reims, France, suffered fatal injuries from an airbag in a 2014 Citroen C3 last year. Fortunately, no such incidents have been reported in the UK.
Owners of the affected vehicles will be contacted via letter by Stellantis to arrange free repairs. The company anticipates completing most of the necessary fixes by early October. To determine if your car is subject to the recall, you can use the VIN check tool on the Citroen website.
