Andrew Blenkiron, the estate manager, expressed concern over the severe impact of the heatwave on their 10,000 acres of farmland. He highlighted the challenging conditions faced by farmers nationwide, emphasizing the necessity of the reservoir to endure prolonged dry summers like the current one.
The Elveden Estate, known for its onion, potato, and carrot cultivation for McDonald’s, has been struggling with a significant decrease in rainfall, relying heavily on groundwater boreholes as their other reservoirs are also running low.
