A 93-year-old widow, Gwen Whittle, recently shared a touching story about two groups of strangers who made a kind gesture towards her as she continued a cherished tradition. Gwen had been married to her beloved husband James for 71 years until his passing in September. The couple first met in 1952 when Gwen moved to Liverpool from North Wales for her teaching career. Over the years, they had a Boxing Day tradition of dining at Toby Carvery on Aigburth Road in Liverpool. After James’s death, Gwen decided to uphold this tradition and reserved a table at the restaurant, bringing along a photo of them together.
Reflecting on their long and happy marriage, Gwen reminisced about their deep connection and joyful moments. She described James as someone who always made her laugh, even during his last days.
