“Woman Faces Jail for Murder Plot on Husband”

Date:

A woman who was unfaithful to her husband is facing potential imprisonment for her involvement in a scheme to murder him in order to collect a life insurance payout worth £124,000. Michelle Mills collaborated with Geraint Berry, her extramarital partner, to plan the killing of Christopher Mills. Throughout their three-month affair, Mills, 46, discussed various methods to carry out the murder, including suffocation with a pillow, poisoning with foxgloves and anti-freeze, among others.

The planned attack took place in a caravan at a holiday park in Cenarth, Carmarthenshire, where two masked individuals armed with imitation firearms attempted to harm Mr. Mills. However, he managed to disarm and fend off the assailants who then fled the scene, as revealed during court proceedings.

Following a thorough investigation, authorities apprehended Mills, Berry, and a third individual named Steven Thomas on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder. While Thomas was acquitted by the jury, Mills and Berry, both 46 years old, were found guilty of the charges. Their sentencing is scheduled for December 19 at Swansea Crown Court.

Detective Inspector Sam Gregory of Dyfed-Powys Police expressed satisfaction with the guilty verdicts, emphasizing the serious nature of the conspiracy to take a life and the potentially fatal outcome of the planned attack. He commended the investigative team for collecting compelling evidence that led to the convictions, as well as Mr. Mills for his cooperation throughout the legal process.

During the trial, it was disclosed that the duo devised the murder plot shortly after Mr. Mills obtained a £124,000 life insurance policy from Help For Heroes. Berry, a former Royal Marine, initiated the affair with Mills in the summer of 2024, culminating in the attack at the end of September that year, as reported by Wales Online.

Evidence presented in court included extensive text conversations between Mills, formerly employed in charity work, and Berry, expressing their affection and aspirations to be together. Mills, hailing from Llanelli, Carmarthenshire, and Berry, residing in Swansea, denied the charge of conspiracy to commit murder.

Mills also refuted an accusation of attempting to pervert the course of justice related to the information she provided to the police after the caravan incident. Berry and Thomas had previously admitted guilt to possessing an imitation firearm with intent to cause fear.
