“Newborn Abandoned at NYC Train Station: Miracle on 34th Street”

Date:

A recently born infant girl, still connected to her umbilical cord, was discovered abandoned on the steps of a bustling train station during the Monday morning rush hour. The incident took place around 9:30 a.m. at the 34th Street–Penn Station stop in New York City, where a passerby found the baby and promptly contacted emergency services.

Upon arrival, emergency responders confirmed that the baby was conscious and alert. They swiftly transported her to Bellevue Hospital, where she was reported to be in stable condition. Authorities are currently examining surveillance footage in hopes of identifying the individual responsible for leaving the child. As of Monday afternoon, no arrests have been made in connection with the incident.

New York City Transit President Demetrius Crichlow referred to the event as the ‘Miracle on 34th Street,’ noting the timely discovery of the infant at the station. Notably, this occurrence follows a separate investigation where a newborn baby girl was found abandoned in a cardboard box along a roadside. The discovery, made on September 24 by a passerby, led to the infant being taken to the hospital for assessment.

Medical professionals confirmed the baby’s good health, estimating her age to be less than a day old based on the already cut umbilical cord. The incident occurred in Tuguegarao City in the Philippines, as reported by the Philippine National Police (PNP) through a Facebook statement. Social worker May Asuncion mentioned that the baby is currently stable but will be under observation at the hospital for up to five days to ensure her ongoing well-being.

Chief Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio C. Nartatez Jr. commended the prompt actions of local citizens and authorities in responding to the situation. He emphasized the value of every life and reiterated the PNP’s commitment to identifying the individual responsible for abandoning the child, as stated in the official PNP release.
