A woman with four children was fatally shot by her former boyfriend, who abandoned her in a shopping center parking lot. Savannah Kulla, aged 29, was discovered dead near a shopping mall after Anthony Deschepper, 38, allegedly left her body there. Deschepper abducted Savannah and their one-year-old daughter before she was found in Brampton, Ontario, Canada, on Tuesday. Authorities issued an alert, leading to the safe recovery of the baby with relatives. Subsequently, a manhunt was launched for Deschepper.
Local law enforcement and Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit located the suspect at a gas station in Niagara Falls early Wednesday morning. Deschepper was shot and killed by a police officer following an encounter. Medical responders pronounced him dead at the scene, with a post-mortem examination scheduled.
Although a firearm was found at the scene, there was no evidence that Deschepper had discharged it. A woman associated with Deschepper, whose identity remains undisclosed, was apprehended at the location. She was allegedly driving the car in which Deschepper was traveling before the incident.
Savannah’s mother, Karen, revealed that her daughter had recently ended her relationship with Deschepper due to his obsessive behavior. Karen expressed deep sorrow over her daughter’s tragic demise, emphasizing Savannah’s love for her children. Savannah and Deschepper shared a one-year-old child, while her three boys are currently residing with their father. Karen voiced relief that Deschepper is no longer a threat to their family dynamics.
Following the heartbreaking event, a GoFundMe campaign was initiated by one of Savannah’s childhood friends to support her children. The fundraiser highlighted Savannah’s dedication to her kids and the void left by her untimely passing. The family aims to ensure that Savannah’s children receive the care and love she would have provided daily.
