“Royal Caribbean’s Legend of the Seas Floats for the First Time”

Date:

Royal Caribbean’s Legend of the Seas has achieved a significant milestone by being floated for the first time at the Meyer Turku shipyard in Turku, Finland. Set to debut in Europe in summer 2026, the massive vessel will boast a gross tonnage of 250,800 and accommodate around 5,610 passengers in its 2,805 cabins. It is anticipated that the ship could potentially hold up to 7,000 passengers, positioning it as the world’s third-largest cruise liner, following its sister ships Icon of the Seas and Star of the Seas.

As the third and final vessel of the Icon class, Legend of the Seas will offer passengers a wealth of attractions, including the Category 6 waterpark and Crown’s Edge, a unique combination of skywalk, ropes course, and ride. Thrill-seekers can also enjoy the 40-foot-long FlowRider surf simulator that generates 30,000 gallons of water for an exhilarating experience. Additionally, the ship features seven pools, ten whirlpools, and the impressive Royal Bay pool.

For relaxation, guests can unwind at the adults-only Hideaway with its suspended infinity pool or grab a drink at Swim & Tonic bar. The vessel will be Royal Caribbean’s fourth ship powered by liquefied natural gas, known for its eco-friendly properties. Despite this, the company aims to introduce ‘net-zero’ cruise ships to its fleet by 2035.

Legend of the Seas is scheduled to launch in the Western Mediterranean in the summer of 2026, offering sailings in Europe. It will operate three to 7-night cruises from Barcelona, Spain, and Rome, Italy. Following the summer season, the ship will move to Florida, providing three to 8-night cruises in the Western and Southern Caribbean from Fort Lauderdale, including a 13-night transatlantic cruise for its relocation.
