“Pressure Mounts on Nigel Farage Over Party Member’s Racial Remarks”

Date:

Nigel Farage is under pressure to disavow one of his party members who expressed frustration at the prevalence of Black and Asian individuals in advertisements. Sarah Pochin, a Reform UK MP, made these remarks during an appearance on TalkTV when questioned about her party’s stance on demographic representation in TV commercials.

During the show, a caller named Stuart suggested that the portrayal of non-white demographics in adverts marginalized white individuals. Sarah Pochin, the MP for Runcorn and Helsby, agreed with this sentiment, stating, “It irritates me to see adverts predominantly featuring Black and Asian individuals rather than white.”

When pressed by host Peter Cardwell, Pochin reiterated her stance, highlighting a perceived dominance of “woke” culture in television. She argued that TV advertising no longer accurately reflects society, especially the average white family, and criticized the lack of white representation in ads.

Anna Turley, Chair of the Labour Party, criticized Pochin’s comments, calling them divisive and demanding clarification from Nigel Farage on whether he supports such views on race within his party. Turley emphasized that categorizing British people based on skin color is unacceptable and indicative of a divisive agenda within Reform UK.

The Labour Party representative urged Farage to promptly denounce Pochin’s statements and clarify the party’s stance on racial issues.
