“Moto3 Riders Injured in Malaysia Crash”

Date:

Two Moto3 riders sustained injuries in a severe crash before a race in Malaysia. Jose Antonio Rueda collided with Noah Dettwiler’s bike during a pre-race lap, leading to both riders being airlifted to the hospital.

Video footage captured Rueda speeding towards Dettwiler, who had slowed down to address a possible bike issue, resulting in the unavoidable collision. Race personnel quickly intervened upon seeing the incident unfold.

Initial reports revealed that Rueda, the Spanish rider, suffered a fractured hand, as confirmed later by his team Red Bull KTM Ajo. He was promptly airlifted to the hospital, while Dettwiler, hailing from Switzerland, received immediate medical attention on the track.

CIP Green Power, Dettwiler’s team, released a statement stating that Dettwiler was involved in a serious accident and required multiple surgeries. The team requested privacy for Dettwiler, emphasizing his resilient spirit and their unwavering support.

Providing an update on Rueda’s condition, his team mentioned that he had a hand fracture but was conscious and alert in the hospital. Rueda did not sustain severe head or torso injuries but did suffer a significant concussion from the impact. He remains under observation for further evaluation of his hand and arm.

The grand prix event, shortened to 10 laps due to the earlier incident, saw Taiyo Furusato emerge as the winner. Alex Marquez claimed victory in the MotoGP race, with British rider Jake Dixon triumphing in the Moto2 grand prix.

Despite the events in Malaysia, Rueda maintains his lead in the overall standings, holding a substantial points advantage over his closest rival, Angel Piqueras. Rueda had clinched the championship title with four races remaining.

Dettwiler, aged 20, had not scored any points in the season’s 16 grands prix. However, he consistently finished races and narrowly missed out on points with multiple 16th place finishes.
