One of the standout jockeys of the Flat season has been hospitalized following a neck injury sustained in a motorcycle accident.
Clifford Lee, a 29-year-old jockey associated with trainer Karl Burke, has had a remarkable season with 94 wins, including his first Group 1 victory aboard Venetian Sun in the Prix Morny. Despite being on a riding suspension after his last four wins, Lee was aiming to reach 100 wins for the first time upon his return.
Unfortunately, Lee’s goal may be delayed as he was involved in an accident while on vacation. Karl Burke reported to the Racing Post that Lee had a fall while riding a cross-country motorbike at a low speed in Scotland, resulting in a head injury and hospitalization.
Originally from south-east London with no racing background, Lee has flourished as a top jockey in Britain since joining Burke in Yorkshire. His exceptional ability to judge pace was evident in consecutive victories at the Cambridgeshire, a highly competitive race, aboard Boiling Point and Liberty Lane.
Well-wishers have expressed support for Lee, who is currently receiving treatment in Edinburgh. Messages of encouragement have been pouring in, with fans sending wishes for his speedy recovery and acknowledging his outstanding performances throughout the season.
