Nathan, the husband of a cherished mother who passed away unexpectedly, has revealed his plans to commemorate her on the first anniversary of her death. Emily Moss, a well-loved mother known for her generosity, tragically died in November 2024 due to sudden heart failure. To honor her memory, Nathan, aged 34, will undertake the challenge of climbing Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa at 13,671 feet, to raise funds for Trafford Domestic Abuse Services (TDAS), a charity where Emily had previously worked.
Discussing Emily’s heart condition, peripartum cardiomyopathy, Nathan shared the challenges they faced after discovering it following the birth of their daughter Isobel. Despite managing her condition with medication, Emily’s passing came as a shock. Nathan recalled the heartbreaking moment when Emily’s mother found her after suffering a heart attack at home.
The news of Emily’s death was a devastating blow to Nathan, who sensed the worst upon arriving at the hospital. The funeral, attended by around 300 mourners, highlighted the impact Emily had on people’s lives and how deeply she was cherished.
Nathan and Emily, childhood sweethearts who married in 2018, had dreams of expanding their family before tragedy struck. Now, Nathan is committed to keeping Emily’s spirit alive by fundraising for the domestic abuse charity, reflecting her selfless nature and dedication to helping others.
Looking back on Emily’s qualities as a mother, Nathan praised her patience and nurturing approach, which he now strives to emulate. He candidly shared the challenges of fulfilling tasks Emily excelled at, such as styling their daughter’s hair, a skill he is determined to master in her absence.
Nathan’s upcoming climb of Mount Toubkal, scheduled from November 28 to 29, has already garnered significant support through his GoFundMe campaign, with donations exceeding £2,000. As he navigates a difficult period marked by special dates, Nathan finds solace in honoring Emily’s memory through acts of kindness and support for those in need.
In addition to the fundraising efforts, Nathan plans to surprise Isobel and her cousins with a trip to Disneyland over the anniversary weekend, creating moments of joy amidst the poignant remembrance of Emily.
