A firefighter, Terence Crosbie, aged 39, was recently found guilty of raping a 29-year-old woman during St Patrick’s Day festivities in March 2024 after a trial at Suffolk Superior Court in Boston. Crosbie faces a potential 20-year prison sentence. Shockingly, prior to his conviction, he made a disturbing comment about Stockholm being the “most unreported rape capital of Europe,” suggesting it would be worth visiting for that reason.
Under the alias “DubKid86,” Crosbie had posted on Twitter about the unreported rape capital in Europe, indicating a disrespectful attitude towards women. Although prosecutors tried to present this tweet as evidence in court, the judge ruled it inadmissible as it was from several years before the incident and not directly related to the case in Boston.
The prosecution argued that the tweet was relevant to Crosbie’s mindset, suggesting a pattern of disrespectful behavior towards women. However, the judge deemed it irrelevant to the current case due to the time gap and location difference. Crosbie’s online posts and tweets revealed a troubling state of mind leading up to his arrest.
Despite the lack of Crosbie’s DNA found on the victim and video surveillance evidence, the jury found him guilty of rape after hours of deliberation. Crosbie’s denial of the allegations against him conflicted with the victim’s account and the evidence presented during the trial. The victim’s brave testimony and the prosecution’s strong case ultimately led to Crosbie’s conviction.
