Staff at a steak restaurant are accused of removing a diner who had collapsed from his table and leaving him outside, according to the police.
Jessie Mobley Jr, aged 34, lost consciousness at the steakhouse following his meal. Allegedly, the employees relocated him and his belongings outside a nearby hair and beauty college, presuming him to be homeless, without contacting the authorities for help.
The man’s body was found the next day near the college in Houston, Texas by a student. Authorities identified him as Jessie Mobley Jr., allowing his father, Jessie Mobley Sr., and step-mother, Renee Mobley, to say their final goodbyes. Renee expressed their shock at the condition of the body, mentioning discoloration and signs of decay.
Local media reported that ants were seen on Mr. Mobley’s ears, and part of his body had turned purple. The exact cause of death remains undetermined.
Renee, speaking to the Houston Chronicle, questioned why immediate aid wasn’t sought for Mr. Mobley and emphasized the importance of not making assumptions when someone needs help.
If the investigation reveals the death was due to natural causes, the case will be closed, as stated by the Houston Police Department. The timing of the investigation’s conclusion remains uncertain, but Mr. Mobley passed away on August 7.
Charlene Fogg-Drake, Mr. Mobley’s aunt, raised concerns about the lack of emergency assistance and believes accountability is necessary. She mentioned setting up memorials outside the restaurant, which were later removed.
It was revealed that Mr. Mobley’s parents have tragically lost three children in 13 years. Renee expressed the ongoing pain of losing a child and described Mr. Mobley as a resilient individual who faced numerous challenges in life.
This incident follows a heartbreaking event where a father tragically died in front of his four young siblings due to a sand dune collapse in New Zealand. The man, Kane, was fatally injured despite efforts to rescue him, leaving his family devastated. Tributes have poured in for Kane, who had a baby on the way that he will never meet.
