A tragic incident unfolded on Valentine’s Day outside The Three Horseshoes pub in Knockholt, Kent, where Lisa Smith, 43, was fatally shot twice in the neck by her husband, Edward Smith. The inquest revealed that Lisa had indicated her intention to leave the relationship earlier that day, leading to an altercation at the pub’s car park. Edward had tracked her down and blocked her car before firing multiple shots with a handgun.
Lisa had informed her sister of her decision to leave her husband and had traveled from Slough to Kent to stay with family. The coroner ruled the cause of death as unlawful killing, attributing the act to Edward’s intent to harm her. After the shooting, Edward, also known as Edvard Stockings, sent voice notes confessing to the act before taking his own life by jumping from a bridge in Dartford.
Witnesses recounted the events leading up to the tragedy, detailing the verbal confrontation between Edward and Lisa’s sister at the pub. The shooting occurred after Edward blocked Lisa’s car and fired multiple shots, resulting in fatal injuries to Lisa. Despite attempts to save her, she succumbed to her wounds shortly after the incident.
The coroner concluded that the incident constituted unlawful killing and highlighted the deliberate actions taken by Edward to locate and harm Lisa. An inquest into Edward Smith’s death is scheduled for later.
