A classic train from the 1970s is making a comeback on the tracks once more, offering passengers a nostalgic journey through picturesque Italian landscapes. Italy has introduced a series of refurbished vintage trains in recent years, adding another stylish locomotive to its collection. The Espresso Siena route will connect Rome and Siena, meandering through the scenic hills of Tuscany.
Passengers aboard the Espresso express will be treated to a blend of vintage charm and modern comfort, with the Gran Confort first-class carriages meticulously restored to meet contemporary standards. The train boasts 70s-inspired features such as plush blue velvet seats, expansive panoramic windows, retro wallpaper, and wooden-paneled corridors.

Fondazione FS and FS Treni Turistici Italiani are jointly operating the route until the end of the month, with the train running for three weekends in autumn. Departing from Roma Termini station, the journey to Siena on 27 September, 4 October, and 1 November will culminate in a memorable arrival at 1.20 pm.
Siena, renowned for its medieval architecture and art heritage, features the iconic Piazza del Campo at its core, showcasing the Palazzo Pubblico and Torre del Mangia. The city is famous for the Palio di Siena, a biannual horse race held in July and August, adding to the city’s vibrant culture and history.
