“Former Agent Skeptical About Team USA’s Ryder Cup Chances”

Date:

Rory McIlroy’s former agent, Andrew ‘Chubby’ Chandler, has expressed skepticism about Team USA’s prospects in the upcoming Ryder Cup tournament. The biennial event is scheduled to be held from 26-28 September at the Black Course in Bethpage State Park, New York.

Team Europe, the current champions following their impressive victory in Rome back in 2023, will be looking to defend their title. McIlroy, who recently claimed the Masters title, played a pivotal role for Team Europe in the previous tournament. The teams for this edition will be captained by Luke Donald for Europe and Keegan Bradley for the USA.

The American team boasts standout players like JJ Spaun and Scottie Scheffler, who have had notable successes in major championships this year. Despite this, Chandler believes Team USA’s chances are slim due to Europe’s strong lineup and experience in big tournaments.

Chandler highlighted Europe’s strengths, including consistent performances from players like Tommy Fleetwood, who recently secured a significant victory at the Tour Championship. Fleetwood’s rise as a top player and his popularity could pose challenges for the American team.

Reflecting on past encounters, Chandler emphasized Europe’s strong team dynamics and leadership under Donald. He noted the lack of enthusiasm among the American players and expressed doubts about their ability to win the tournament.

With the Ryder Cup approaching, the competition between Team Europe and Team USA is set to captivate golf fans worldwide.
