“Yorkshire Pudding Debate Rages: Truss Stands Firm”

Date:

Liz Truss faces criticism for her controversial revelation about her Christmas dinner preferences, with some supporting her stance. The former Tory Prime Minister discussed her family’s holiday meal preparations on Nick Ferrari’s LBC radio show. When asked about her role in the dinner, Truss mentioned that while her husband cooks the turkey, she takes charge of the potatoes, dismissing the idea of Yorkshire puddings on Christmas Day.

Despite her Yorkshire heritage, Truss firmly believes that Yorkshire puddings should only accompany roast beef, not turkey. She did, however, mention that they would be enjoying a traditional glass of Buck’s Fizz during the festivities. The debate on whether Yorkshire puddings belong on a Christmas dinner table has long been a topic of contention.

A recent YouGov poll revealed that nearly half of Britons would include Yorkshire puddings in their Christmas meal, especially those opting for roast beef over turkey. While royal butler Grant Harrold suggested that the royal family would likely not have Yorkshire puddings at Sandringham, the choice remains less controversial in other households.

When asked about serving Yorkshire puddings, Karl Green, head chef of The Unruly Pig in Suffolk, expressed a resounding yes, emphasizing that Yorkshire puddings are an essential part of his Christmas dinner tradition.
