The Met Office has raised concerns over snow and ice, emphasizing potential travel disruptions. Numerous schools, particularly in Wales, have closed to ensure the safety of students amid icy conditions.

Temperatures are expected to remain below freezing, especially in eastern regions where the coldest weather will prevail. Significant snowfall is forecasted for the Northern Highlands and the Isle of Skye, with projections of up to 65cm of snow in the upcoming days.

An amber weather warning has been issued for specific areas, indicating the likelihood of heavy snow causing travel disruptions. The warning extends to Central, Tayside & Fife, Grampian, and Highlands & Eilean Siar, with potential travel delays and stranded vehicles and passengers.

Additionally, five other weather warnings are in place, including alerts for snow, ice, and a forthcoming snow event across the Midlands later in the week. The Met Office Chief Meteorologist, Matthew Lehnert, highlighted the ongoing winter weather risks and advised the public to stay updated with the evolving forecasts.

Further weather warnings encompass snow and ice alerts for parts of North East England and Yorkshire Humber, with scattered snow showers and icy patches posing travel disruption risks.
