Michigan State Police closed the Interstate 196 highway on Monday morning following a major collision involving more than 100 vehicles due to heavy snowfall that blanketed the state. The incident, which occurred southwest of Grand Rapids, led to the involvement of over 30 trucks in the cleanup operation. While several injuries were reported, fortunately, there were no fatalities.

One driver, Pedro Mata Jr., described the challenging conditions, mentioning that the snow made cars barely visible as they were driving at 20-25 mph before the collision. Despite managing to stop safely, Mata decided to move his truck to the median to avoid being rear-ended, highlighting the tense moments as he heard crashes behind him.

Severe weather warnings have been issued across the country due to a winter storm causing disruptions, with potential storms expected in various states from northern Minnesota to Wisconsin, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, and New York.
