Donald Trump’s youngest son, Barron Trump, 19, reached out to Metropolitan Police officers in the UK from the US, claiming to be closely connected to an alleged rape victim residing in London. The victim was reportedly being assaulted by Russian-born Matvei Rumiantsev, 22, who is facing charges including assault and two counts of rape at Snaresbrook Crown Court.
According to court proceedings, Barron contacted the police after witnessing the alleged assault via a video call with the victim on January 18 last year. He informed the London police that he believed she was in danger. In a transcript released by the Crown Prosecution Service, Barron described the urgency of the situation and mentioned his prior interaction with the victim on social media.
Following the call, Barron was asked to provide a witness statement by investigating officers. In his response on May 2, Barron described the incident as brief but significant, highlighting that he took immediate action by contacting the Metropolitan Police despite the time zone difference. He also mentioned involving friends in alerting the authorities due to the ongoing difficulties faced by the victim.
The court heard that despite initial communication from police to Barron, there was no further response from him. The victim expressed gratitude towards Barron for his intervention, stating that his call was instrumental in potentially saving her life.
Rumiantsev, the accused, has denied the charges against him, including assault, rape, strangulation, and perverting the course of justice. Allegations suggest that his actions were fueled by jealousy towards the victim’s relationship with Barron Trump. The trial continues with conflicting testimonies and claims from both sides.
