EDF has reintroduced its Sunday Saver challenge for February, offering customers free electricity on Sundays if they reduce their electricity usage during weekday peak hours of 4pm to 7pm. By participating, customers can earn between four and 16 hours of free electricity the following Sunday. EDF customers with smart meters can enroll in the challenge until Sunday, February 1.
The energy company states that more than 260,000 households have already received over 17 million free hours of electricity through the Sunday Saver program, resulting in £5.2 million in bill credits. Additionally, EDF customers will have four opportunities to participate in the Sunday Saver challenge in February on the 15th, 22nd, and in March on the 1st and 8th.
During Christmas, over 100,000 customers benefited from eight hours of free electricity, with EDF providing a total of 910,536 free hours of electricity to households. Natasha Shields from Barnsley, South Yorkshire, has accumulated more than 680 free hours through the program, helping her manage increasing living costs.
Jon Perks, EDF’s Sales & Marketing Director, emphasized that the Sunday Saver initiative offers a practical way for customers to reduce costs during peak winter billing times. By tracking their energy usage through the Energy Hub, households can identify opportunities to save electricity and decrease their carbon footprint.
Participants can monitor their Sunday Saver progress on the Energy Hub via MyAccount, where they can access personalized insights into their energy consumption patterns. In addition, EDF is providing £50 credit to new and existing customers who sign up for any of its electric vehicle tariffs in the next month, all of which offer five hours of discounted electricity every night for both homes and electric cars between 12am and 5am.
