A renowned theme park in Devon is gearing up to enhance its array of family-friendly attractions in 2026 by introducing two new rides during the spring and summer seasons.
Crealy, situated in Clyst St Mary, Exeter, was honored with accolades for Best Theme Park for Families (Small) and Best Theme Park for Toddlers (Small) for its Sooty Land experience at the 2025 UK Theme Park Awards.
The upcoming pair of attractions will complement the park’s existing lineup of over 60 rides and activities, including popular attractions like the Tidal Wave log flume and the unique Roman-themed Maximus Rollercoaster.
The first addition, Pirates’ Plummet, is set to be the tallest drop tower adventure in the South West, opening in spring. Previously known as Magma at Paultons Park in Hampshire, this ride has been revamped with pirate-themed elements, promising thrills for guests over 110cm tall, with a height requirement of 130cm for unaccompanied riders, as reported by Devon Live.
In the summer, visitors can look forward to the debut of Rotor, touted as the first inverted attraction in the South West. This high-speed ride will spin and flip passengers, providing a gravity-defying experience.
While details about Rotor are currently limited, teaser images depict riders securely seated. Crealy’s theme park has been a cherished family destination since its inception in the late 1980s and aims to cater to older children while maintaining its appeal across generations.
Over the years, the park has introduced various enhancements, such as the introduction of Sooty Land in 2022, a dedicated area themed around the popular children’s show “Sooty.” The land features live shows starring Sooty, Sweep, and friends, along with themed rides like Sweep’s Flying Circus and Izzy Wizzy Let’s Get Dizzy.
In 2012, Crealy added on-site accommodations, offering lodges, glamping options, and camping spots. Families can opt for stay-and-play packages including accommodation and unlimited park access during their stay.
Staying at Crealy also provides easy access to Exeter, where attractions like Exeter Cathedral and the Royal Albert Memorial Museum await exploration. Nearby, the coastal town of Exmouth offers a picturesque sandy beach and attractions like the World of Country Life, a farming museum, and the Exmouth Museum showcasing the history of South Devon.
