Conor McGregor has expressed his support for the upcoming UFC White House event, even though he is not scheduled to compete in it.
Initially rumored to headline a fight against Michael Chandler on President Donald Trump’s front lawn on June 14, McGregor is now expected to return to the octagon the following month. UFC CEO Dana White unveiled the White House card, featuring Ilia Topuria defending his lightweight title against Justin Gaethje in the main event.
In a surprising move, Alex Pereira will move up to the heavyweight division to challenge Ciryl Gane for the interim belt in the co-main event. Despite not being on the fight card, McGregor shared a photo of the event on social media, expressing his approval with the caption “love it” and later calling it “a great card.”
McGregor had earlier disclosed that he was awaiting confirmation on his next fight, mentioning his willingness to participate in the White House event against Chandler. However, plans shifted, and McGregor indicated he might be considered for the International Fight Week instead.
The Irish fighter also revealed his intention to return at welterweight, emphasizing his readiness to face any opponent offered to him. He expressed his eagerness to get back into the octagon after a hiatus and mentioned his manager’s upcoming meeting in Las Vegas to discuss potential opportunities.
