A tragic incident unfolded as a father neglected his daughter to the point of starvation, leading to her untimely death despite having boxes of food stacked just outside her room. The lifeless body of the five-year-old girl, Charlotte Buskey, was discovered by police in a neglected state inside a small cot.
The father, Robert S. Buskey, Jr., age 35, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in connection with Charlotte’s death. Authorities described the living conditions as a “house of horrors,” where Charlotte had suffered from neglect and malnourishment for an extended period. Shockingly, a three-year-old boy was also found locked in a cage in the living room, but fortunately, he was alive.
Reports revealed that the father isolated his children from the world, neglecting their basic needs and failing to seek medical attention for them. Instead, he indulged in drugs and video games to avoid responsibility, resulting in the tragic death of one of his children. Both children tested positive for cocaine.
Upon responding to a distress call at the residence on Elmer Avenue, New York, on April 14, 2024, authorities uncovered the dire situation. Charlotte was found emaciated and neglected in her room, confined to a small cot without even a proper bed. The heartbreaking discovery indicated a severe case of neglect and deprivation.
In a chilling confession, Buskey admitted to letting his daughter die due to his neglect and indifference to human life, creating circumstances that led to her demise. He also acknowledged guilt in the criminal sale of a controlled substance to a child. Buskey, a former MMA competitor, faces a lengthy prison sentence, ranging from 27 years to life, upon his scheduled sentencing.
