Donald Trump has issued a concerning warning about an upcoming “day of retribution” in Minnesota. Despite widespread criticism of ICE’s tactics and activities in the state, the US President has reaffirmed his decision to deploy more agents, specifically targeting Somali Americans, many of whom are US citizens.
Using his own Truth Social platform, Trump questioned whether Minnesotans want to live in a community with individuals he described as convicted criminals, drug dealers, rapists, and other dangerous individuals. He defended ICE’s actions, emphasizing their goal of removing these individuals from neighborhoods and sending them back to their home countries.
Contrary to Trump’s claims, the majority of Somali Americans in Minnesota are US citizens through naturalization or birth. The number of illegal Somali migrants in the state is estimated to be less than 1,000. Despite this, the Trump administration has reportedly deployed around 3,000 ICE agents to Minnesota, raising concerns about the ratio of agents to potential deportees.
Trump asserted that crime rates decrease wherever his administration intervenes, citing an improvement in Chicago. He accused Minnesota Democrats of benefiting from unrest caused by anarchists and agitators, diverting attention from alleged financial corruption. The President ended his message with a bold declaration: “FEAR NOT, GREAT PEOPLE OF MINNESOTA, THE DAY OF RECKONING & RETRIBUTION IS COMING!”
