Families have expressed distress over the rapid sentencing of their loved ones, such as Erfan Soltani, who faced a scheduled execution by hanging. Erfan was arrested during anti-government demonstrations and charged with a capital offense.
In response to the escalating security situation, Britain has closed its embassy in Iran and withdrawn non-essential diplomatic staff. British citizens have been advised against traveling to Iran, and the Foreign Office’s travel guidance has been updated to reflect these changes.
