A victim of rape felt deeply violated after her assault, resorting to using Dettol to cleanse herself. David Wilson committed a brutal double rape against the woman, disregarding her pleas to stop. Newcastle Crown Court heard the harrowing account of the assault, which left her traumatized and afraid, so much so that she couldn’t bear to touch her own skin initially.
In an effort to regain a sense of cleanliness, she resorted to washing herself with Dettol. Wilson, residing at Garth Farm Road, Winlaton, Gateshead, denied the charges but was found guilty by a jury. He was sentenced to ten years in prison by Recorder Mark Giuliani, who criticized Wilson for prioritizing his desires over the victim’s clear refusal.
The victim’s impact statement was described as “chilling” by Recorder Giuliani. She expressed feeling so defiled that she couldn’t even touch her own skin to clean herself afterward. The woman described the assault as violent and traumatizing, leading her to feel ashamed and dirty, prompting her to use Dettol to cleanse herself.
The court was informed about Wilson’s history of violence.
