A man in Louisiana, Larry Darby, has been found guilty of multiple charges after sexually assaulting a female family member over several years, resulting in her pregnancy. The victim, who was just 12 years old when the abuse began in 2003, endured repeated assaults, including physical harm such as knocked-out teeth and permanent scars on her neck when she resisted Darby’s advances.
The culmination of the abuse was the victim’s forced pregnancy, leading to the birth of a child who DNA evidence confirmed to be Darby’s. The case against Darby was reopened due to additional evidence, resulting in his recent conviction on charges including aggravated rape, aggravated incest, and sexual battery. He faces a mandatory life sentence for rape, with the possibility of up to 50 additional years in prison. Sentencing is scheduled for January 27.
The District Attorney emphasized the importance of justice for the victim and commended her bravery for coming forward. This conviction follows a previous assault conviction in 2022, revealing a pattern of abuse by Darby.
