In starting my campaign, I emphasized the idea of initiating a new era for Wales, steering away from the status quo towards a Wales that resonates differently in the daily lives of its people. Out in the neighborhoods, one can easily pick up on the frustration and concerns surrounding issues of unfairness.
The populace isn’t seeking perfection; rather, they are yearning for tangible change. A touch more certainty. A tad more stability. A hint less apprehension about the next bill.
Nigel Farage and his party are treating Welsh voters as gullible, rebranded Tories peddling the same old solutions, exploiting Wales as a mere stepping stone. Their disregard for Wales and absence of a concrete future plan are evident.
While Plaid Cymru claims to champion Wales, their actions often fall short of addressing the genuine worries of Welsh citizens when it truly counts. They have opposed enhanced protections for shop workers and emergency personnel and have shied away from supporting justice for Hillsborough families, prioritizing conflicts with Westminster over fairness.
Such politics do not resonate with the majority in Wales. While it might be easier to echo empty rhetoric and make lofty promises, I refuse to say just anything to secure votes. I will speak only of what I genuinely believe we can achieve.
The people of Wales are not interested in endless debates concerning Wales’ position within the United Kingdom in the next Senedd. They desire a government that actively enhances the NHS, alleviates the cost of living, and nurtures a robust, flourishing economy.
Our strategy offers practical relief for the cost of living. We intend to cap single bus fares at £2 across Wales, maintain £1 fares for young individuals, and provide free travel for those above 60, effectively easing financial burdens on a weekly basis.
Moreover, we plan to establish an additional 20,000 childcare spots, extending services from nine months old onwards to facilitate working parents. We commit to refraining from increasing income tax, as fairness begins with recognizing the challenges faced by families.
We aim to forge an Energy Independent Wales, generating quality jobs in clean energy and fortifying the nation’s energy security. Furthermore, we pledge a Lifelong Retraining Guarantee to enable individuals to acquire new skills.
Although our healthcare system stands as a significant achievement, many individuals endure prolonged wait times for treatment. To address this, we propose a new NHS pact.
Our vision includes constructing hospitals for the future through a £4 billion investment and enhancing accessibility to mental health support for timelier care provision. Progress has been made in reducing waiting lists, with consecutive months of decline. Yet, we acknowledge the public’s desire for accelerated progress, which is a key focus for the forthcoming chapter.
This election transcends political theatrics; it centers on the essence of Wales’ future. Claims of reform being mandatory are unfounded. Wales is not in disarray; it is brimming with possibilities.
The election signifies the transformation of these potentials into tangible, everyday realities for the people—a fresh narrative for Wales. Fairness that is palpable.
