Father’s Fatal Shooting of British Daughter in Texas Probed

Date:

Police in the US captured the moment when a father admitted to fatally shooting his British daughter. The incident took place in Prosper, Texas, where Lucy Harrison, a 23-year-old from Warrington, Cheshire, was shot and killed by her father, Kris Harrison, from “medium range.” Lucy had traveled to the US with her boyfriend, Sam Littler, to visit her father. A coroner in the UK ruled that Lucy’s death was unlawful and attributed it to gross negligence manslaughter.

During the inquest, footage revealed Mr. Harrison telling a police officer that the gun accidentally discharged as he was showing it to Lucy. However, the coroner rejected his explanation, stating that the circumstances indicated reckless behavior on Mr. Harrison’s part. Lucy and Sam had recently purchased a home together and had family over before their trip to the US.

Testimonies from Sam Littler, Lucy’s mother, and a friend described Lucy as being against guns. It was revealed that Mr. Harrison had been drinking before the incident, with the coroner describing him as a “functioning alcoholic.” Despite the lack of prosecution, Lucy’s family expressed dissatisfaction with the investigation and highlighted the need for better gun laws and police scrutiny.

Jane Coates, Lucy’s mother, praised the efforts of those who tried to save Lucy’s life and thanked the community for their support. She remembered Lucy as someone who stood up against injustice and expressed a commitment to learning from her tragic death. Ms. Coates appreciated Sam’s love for Lucy and emphasized the importance of moving forward with love and healing in Lucy’s memory.
