“Alcaraz and Raducanu team up for US Open mixed doubles”

Date:

Carlos Alcaraz and Emma Raducanu are set to team up for the mixed doubles tournament at the US Open after Alcaraz traveled over 600 miles to New York from the Cincinnati Open. Despite initial doubts, the duo will now compete in the competition scheduled a week before the main tournament.

Alcaraz, fresh from his Cincinnati Open performance where his opponent retired due to illness, wasted no time and boarded a private jet with Iga Swiatek to make it to the doubles event. The young tennis star expressed excitement about the mixed doubles concept, acknowledging the challenging scheduling but emphasizing his eagerness to play alongside Raducanu.

The duo is scheduled to begin their campaign on Tuesday against Jack Draper and Jessica Pegula. Alcaraz humorously noted that Raducanu would be calling the shots in their partnership, highlighting their longstanding relationship and shared enthusiasm for the opportunity.

Following the mixed doubles event, both players will shift their focus to their singles campaigns. Raducanu aims to improve on her early exits from past tournaments, while Alcaraz looks to build on his recent success after winning the men’s tournament in 2022.

In addition to their on-court endeavors, Sky has announced a discounted Essential TV and Sky Sports bundle ahead of the upcoming season, offering a substantial discount and increased live match coverage, including a significant rise in Premier League games broadcasted.
