“Expert Reveals UK’s Hidden Coastal Gems”

Date:

An expert in travel has highlighted some lesser-known seaside getaways in the UK that offer a peaceful alternative to the popular destinations in Cornwall.

Cornwall stands out as a top UK coastal spot, renowned for its expansive sandy beaches, excellent surfing opportunities, vibrant food scene, and quaint towns like St Ives and Falmouth. Each year, the region attracts approximately 4 million overnight visitors and a staggering 14 million day-trippers.

The peak season in Cornwall typically coincides with school breaks and summer months, drawing thousands of Brits to the coastline for sun-soaked days. Statistics from ONS show a remarkable 710,860 short-term holiday let nights were booked in August alone.

While a visit to Cornwall can be overcrowded and costly due to high demand, there are hidden gems in the UK that offer equally stunning coastal experiences in a more tranquil setting.

Mark Hutchins, the founder of Beach Stays, expressed, “Cornwall is truly magnificent, and its popularity is well-deserved. However, there are coastal stretches in the UK that are equally breathtaking, less crowded, and more affordable. Many overlook these destinations simply because they are less familiar. It’s their loss and an opportunity for those willing to explore beyond the usual spots.”

According to Mark, these lesser-known locations offer stunning coastal views and beautiful beaches without compromising on quality. He recommends West Wales and Northumberland as ideal seaside retreats, offering a more budget-friendly alternative to Cornwall.

West Wales boasts dramatic cliffs, pristine beaches, secluded coves, and charming coastal towns such as Cardigan and Aberaeron. Notable beaches in the area include Barafundle Bay, Pendine Sands, and Whitesands Bay, all featuring miles of golden sands against the azure waters.

A visitor to Pendine Sands shared on TripAdvisor, “What a stunning beach, vast expanse of sand, picturesque views, ample parking, numerous shops to explore, and even a speed museum. Plenty of dining options available; highly recommended.”

After a visit to Whitsand Bay in West Wales, another holidaymaker expressed, “We have been visiting Whitsand Bay almost every year for our vacation. Beautiful sandy beaches, untouched and serene, with very few people around. Incredibly peaceful.”

Additionally, Wales is home to the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, the sole national park along the UK’s coastline, spanning 186 miles of picturesque shores. The park offers excellent hiking opportunities and breathtaking vistas of estuaries, expansive beaches, and rugged cliffs.

In Northumberland, visitors can marvel at unspoiled sandy beaches bordered by dunes, rolling hills, and heather-covered moors. Bamburgh, one of the region’s most renowned beaches, features three miles of golden sand, overlooked by the impressive Bamburgh Castle and offering panoramic views of the Farne Islands.
