Further examination of the disclosed emails indicates that Epstein also sent $10,000 to Lord Mandelson’s partner in 2009. Bank records from the Sunday Mirror show two additional transactions of $25,000 each made to different accounts under Lord Mandelson’s name in June 2004.
It is important to note that being mentioned in the Epstein files does not imply involvement in or knowledge of Epstein’s illegal activities.
A spokesperson for Lord Mandelson stated that he does not recall receiving such a payment from Epstein and cannot verify the authenticity of the documents. Lord Mandelson expressed regret for associating with Epstein, believing his falsehoods, and maintaining contact with him.
Regarding the photographs, Lord Mandelson mentioned to the Sunday Mirror that he cannot identify the woman or the location in the images and cannot recollect the circumstances.
The communication history between Lord Mandelson and Epstein reveals a friendly relationship spanning several years, with discussions ranging from political matters to arrangements for meetings at Epstein’s New York City residence.
In one email thread dating back to 2012, Epstein and his associates discussed coordinating a meeting between Lord Mandelson and two women at Epstein’s property. Lord Mandelson stated that he does not recognize the individuals mentioned in the email.
In a separate email exchange from 2010, Lord Mandelson conversed with Epstein about former Prime Minister Gordon Brown’s controversial incident known as ‘bigotgate’. Mandelson messaged Epstein shortly after the incident, informing him of the situation, to which Epstein offered advice on how Brown should address it.
In correspondence from 2009, Lord Mandelson inquired about staying at Epstein’s residence over a weekend, with Epstein suggesting the possibility and expressing enthusiasm about hosting. Mandelson acknowledged the arrangements, acknowledging better facilities at Epstein’s property.
Following his removal as Ambassador to the US, Lord Mandelson issued a statement apologizing for his association with Epstein, admitting his error in believing Epstein’s innocence and continuing ties post-conviction. He expressed deep regret for not acknowledging the victims’ voices and emphasized that he was never complicit in Epstein’s crimes.
