“Wales bans violent man from all pubs after assaults”

Date:

A man in Wales has been banned from all pubs in the country after a recent incident of violence. Julio Waters, in collaboration with his father Wayne, attacked a bar staff member in Neath, resulting in severe injuries and significant dental expenses for the victim. This assault occurred after Waters had been previously banned for headbutting a customer in the same pub.

During the trial at Swansea Crown Court, it was revealed that the 39-year-old Julio Waters has a notorious history of violent behavior in pubs across Neath and Swansea, leading to his prior ban from all licensed premises in Neath Port Talbot. The judge, while sentencing Waters for the recent assault, expressed concern about the threat he poses to pub staff and customers. By prohibiting him from all licensed premises in Wales, the judge aimed to prevent simply transferring the problem to England.

According to prosecutor Dean Pulling, the initial assault took place outside the Ambassador Hotel in Neath town center in August 2024. Julio Waters unexpectedly headbutted and punched a member of a group socializing outside the bar before nonchalantly leaving the scene. A staff member witnessed the attack, called for an ambulance, and stayed with the injured individual until medical help arrived. Waters even attempted to interfere with potential CCTV evidence by instructing the staff member to remove any cameras.

Subsequently, Julio Waters returned to the Ambassador in May 2023, despite being barred, and engaged in a physical altercation with the security guard, joined by his father Wayne. The duo threatened and physically assaulted the security personnel, forcing other patrons and staff to intervene at great personal risk. Following the incident, both father and son were questioned but chose to remain silent during the interviews, leading to their later charges.

Julio Waters, residing in Cadoxton, Neath, had pleaded guilty to two counts of assault causing actual bodily harm and was sentenced to 27 months in prison. He will serve half the term in custody before completing the remainder in the community. Additionally, he received a two-year exclusion order from all licensed premises in Wales. Meanwhile, Wayne Waters, residing in Bryncoch, Neath, was given a 12-month suspended prison sentence, instructed to attend a rehabilitation course, and ordered to compensate an Ambassador staff member with £1,000.

The judge warned Wayne Waters to reflect on his actions and the example he sets for his son, emphasizing the need for accountability and remorse. He noted that Wayne was fortunate to avoid immediate imprisonment, unlike his son.
