“King Charles to Address US Congress on Historic Visit”

Date:

King Charles is set to address the US Congress during his upcoming visit to the United States next month, according to recent reports.

The anticipated three-day trip will feature a state dinner at the White House, a visit to New York City, and a speech to a joint session of US lawmakers in Washington.

This visit will mark the first time a British monarch has spoken before the American Congress since Queen Elizabeth II did so in 1991. Despite escalating tensions between UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and US President Donald Trump over the Iran conflict, the visit is scheduled to proceed ahead of America’s 250th anniversary.

President Trump expressed eagerness to meet King Charles soon, despite calls for a postponement of this historic royal visit. While US news channel Fox News reported the plan for the King’s congressional address, no specific date or time has been confirmed yet.

The White House, Buckingham Palace, and the British government are resolute in ensuring the visit takes place, allowing the King to honor Americans on their independence anniversary. Extensive preparations have been made for the visit, with royal aides conducting reconnaissance in the US.

King Charles’s trip follows President Trump’s visit to London last September, during which he attended a state dinner hosted by Charles at Windsor Castle. Additionally, House Speaker Mike Johnson addressed the UK Parliament in recognition of America’s 250th anniversary, highlighting the special relationship between the US and the UK.

The royal family’s use of soft power diplomacy is seen as a crucial and distinctive method of engaging with the monarch-loving billionaire-turned-politician. Meanwhile, Sir Keir has distanced himself from the Iran conflict, emphasizing his commitment to safeguarding British interests.

In a recent statement, Sir Keir emphasized his focus on British national interests despite external pressures, pledging to make tough decisions for the country’s benefit. A recent YouGov survey revealed that 46% of Britons believe the King should cancel his official visit and refrain from traveling to the US this year.
