A man contacted emergency services to report being trapped in his garage by his spouse, moments before gunshots rang out. Collin Turner, a former US Marine, lived with his wife, Bree Kuhn, and their children in Gulf Breeze, Florida. Kuhn, a US Navy chief petty officer, was involved in a tragic incident on September 8, 2021, which has recently been revisited on an episode of “Coffeehouse Crime.”
Reports indicate that Collin, who was caring for the children and studying electrical engineering at home, wanted to take the kids to his parents’ house, leading to conflict with Kuhn. Despite earlier police visits, the situation escalated when Collin called 911 again. He described being locked in the garage by Kuhn, who had previously broken the doors and allegedly attempted to harm him.
During the call, a gunshot interrupted the conversation, followed by Collin’s chilling revelation that he had been shot. Kuhn was subsequently arrested and claimed self-defense, citing concerns over custody of the children. The legal proceedings revealed conflicting accounts, with Kuhn ultimately found guilty of premeditated first-degree murder in September 2024.
The court acknowledged Kuhn’s fears but dismissed unsubstantiated claims of threats from Collin. She received a life sentence without displaying any visible emotion. Collin’s mother expressed the profound impact of his loss on the family, particularly on the younger children, who continue to grapple with trauma and fear despite being under their grandmother’s care.
