“Roblox Virtual Scenario Leads to Deadly School Shooting”

Date:

A suspected individual in the Tumbler Ridge area is believed to have orchestrated a virtual scenario within the Roblox online game platform that simulated a mass shooting at a mall, as reported by multiple sources.

The suspect, identified as 18-year-old Jesse Van Rootselaar, tragically took the lives of three 12-year-old girls, two boys aged 12 and 13, and a 39-year-old female teacher at Tumbler Ridge Secondary School in British Columbia, Canada, on February 10.

Prior to the school attack, Van Rootselaar allegedly shot a 39-year-old woman and an 11-year-old boy, who were identified as the suspect’s mother and stepbrother by law enforcement authorities.

The incident resulted in at least 25 individuals sustaining injuries, marking Canada’s deadliest school shooting since the tragic events at Montreal’s L’Ecole Polytechnique in 1989.

A Roblox account linked to Van Rootselaar’s online presence reportedly featured a game allowing users to enact a mass shooting scenario at a mall, according to investigations conducted by The New York Times.

In response to inquiries from The Mirror, a spokesperson for Roblox confirmed the removal of the user account associated with the distressing event and any related content tied to the suspect. The company expressed its full cooperation with law enforcement in their inquiries.

The account and associated content were promptly deleted from Roblox on February 11, with the account having received seven visits.

A disturbing image showing Van Rootselaar smiling and holding a firearm was circulated before the tragic incident, although the exact age of Van Rootselaar in the picture remains unknown.

Following the attack, residents of Tumbler Ridge, a small community nestled in the foothills of the Rockies with approximately 2,400 inhabitants, received urgent instructions to seek shelter due to an active shooter, described as a “female in a dress with brown hair.”

Authorities revealed that Van Rootselaar, who identified as transgender and preferred female pronouns, took their own life with a self-inflicted gunshot on the school premises, causing the death toll to rise to nine.

Law enforcement officers discovered the deceased shooter inside the school premises during their response to the incident. Royal Canadian Mounted Police Deputy Commissioner Dwayne McDonald confirmed the suspect’s identity as Van Rootselaar, a local resident of Tumbler Ridge.
