Lucy Harrison, a 23-year-old woman from Warrington, UK, was tragically shot in the chest by her father, Kris Harrison, during a visit to the US on January 10, 2025, following a dispute over Donald Trump. Kris was investigated for potential manslaughter but was not charged as the grand jury in Collin County chose not to indict him. Recently, an inquest was conducted at Cheshire Coroner’s Court to examine the events of that fatal day.
Lucy, an employee at Boohoo, traveled with her boyfriend, Sam Littler, to stay with her father in Prosper, Texas, on December 28, 2024. Kris, who had a history of struggles with alcoholism, resided there since Lucy’s childhood. According to Littler, Lucy often became upset when her father discussed owning a firearm.
On the day they were scheduled to return to the UK, a heated argument erupted between Lucy and her father regarding the then President-elect, Donald Trump. Lucy posed a hypothetical scenario to her father about sexual assault, to which Kris responded somewhat callously. This exchange left Lucy visibly distressed, prompting her to retreat upstairs.
Littler, who was present during the altercation, described the morning as initially calm, with the family preparing for their departure. Despite efforts to console Lucy, tensions remained high. Shortly after, a loud noise resonated from Kris’s bedroom, where he had taken Lucy. The unexpected gunshot prompted a frantic response, with Littler and Heather, Kris’s wife, rushing to the scene.
Emergency services were summoned while attempts to revive Lucy were made. Kris, in a statement, claimed the shooting was accidental, stating he was showing Lucy his handgun when it discharged unexpectedly. Despite previous struggles with alcoholism, Kris admitted to consuming alcohol that day, attributing it to his emotional state over Lucy’s imminent departure.
Expressing remorse, Kris acknowledged the irreversible consequences of his actions. Lucy’s mother, Jane Coates, remembered her daughter fondly for her vitality and emotional depth, emphasizing her remarkable qualities and the profound impact of her loss.
