Critics, including Daisy Cooper of the Liberal Democrats, accused Truss of following Nigel Farage’s tactics and criticized her for disparaging the country while aiming to introduce divisive US political elements. Calls were made for Badenoch to expel Truss from the party due to her promotion of populist division.
Truss revealed plans to organize the first CPAC conference in London in July and was identified as a director of CPAC London Ltd. The absence of Donald Trump at this year’s CPAC USA raised speculation about his avoidance of potential backlash over the Iran conflict. Instead, lesser-known figures from the Trump administration were featured at the conference.
Attendees at the event echoed the sentiments of Truss and Trump regarding the UK, expressing concerns about issues such as Islamification. The conference attracted a notable presence of Iranian Americans advocating for the restoration of the monarchy in Iran.
Truss criticized “globalist elites” and highlighted her desire to challenge the status quo in the UK. She emphasized the need for a movement akin to “Make England Great Again” to combat what she perceives as detrimental influences in society. Truss called for a shift away from current ideologies and a return to traditional values.
During a panel discussion titled “Europestan: Can Europe Survive?”, Truss delved into conspiracy theories, accusing UK elites of undermining Western civilization. She advocated for a “Trump-style revolution” in the UK to restore what she views as lost values. Truss emphasized the importance of unifying the populace to instigate meaningful change.
The inaugural CPAC Great Britain aims to mobilize conservative energy on an international scale, with Truss stressing the urgency of awakening the British population to societal shifts. Truss emphasized the desire for a return to traditional values and a rejection of what she termed as “woke claptrap.”
