Police authorities in the Bahamas have provided a significant update following the disappearance of a woman in the Abaco Islands while on a boat excursion during the Easter weekend.
Lynette Hooker, aged 55, was declared missing on Saturday night after she accidentally fell into the waters of the Abaco Islands during a boat journey. She was onboard an 8-foot motorboat traveling from Hope Town to Elbow Cay on the evening of Saturday when she disappeared.
Search operations in the region encompassed marine, land, and aerial searches, assisted by drones and professional divers.
The Royal Bahamas Police Force released a statement in the early hours of the day, stating, “Police want to notify the public that, as the investigation progresses, a 59-year-old U.S. national was apprehended shortly after 7 pm on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, in Marsh Harbour, Abaco. He is presently under interrogation regarding this incident.”
“The arrest is connected to the vanishing of a female who was reported missing from an 8-foot dinghy while en route to Elbow Cay on Saturday, April 4, 2026. Authorities urge individuals with relevant information to come forward to aid the investigation.”
