A 19-year-old individual has been sentenced to 28 months in jail for using the online gaming platform Roblox to groom a young girl, raising concerns among parents. The case of Carlo Tritta has shed light on significant safety breaches on the platform, including predatory behavior and glorification of violent acts.
Tritta, hailing from Eastleigh, initiated contact with the 14-year-old victim in September 2024 through Roblox. What started as an innocent in-game chat quickly spiraled into a disturbing fixation, leading Tritta to travel to the girl’s residence and issue threats in person.
Employing tactics like showering the teenager with gifts, frequent phone calls, and explicit messages on various platforms such as Snapchat and WhatsApp, Tritta manipulated the girl into believing they were in a romantic relationship. When the girl’s mother discovered inappropriate content, she reported Tritta to the authorities, resulting in his arrest in August 2025.
Despite being prohibited from contacting the girl or her family, Tritta persistently reached out to the girl’s friends, made repeated calls and texts, and even attempted to interfere with the legal proceedings. His actions culminated in a visit to the girl’s home in Manchester, where he confronted her and her mother before damaging property.
Subsequently, Tritta faced charges for various offenses, including making indecent images of a child, engaging in sexual communications with a minor, and intimidating witnesses. The victim described feeling trapped and frightened by Tritta’s actions, highlighting the profound impact on her mental well-being.
In a separate incident involving Roblox, a tragic case unfolded where a teenager, influenced by extremist groups within the platform, met a devastating end. The teenager’s mother revealed how her daughter’s involvement in a group that glorified violence led to her tragic suicide, underscoring the dangers lurking in online communities.
