Police have apprehended a fifth individual in relation to a shooting incident in Trafford last week. Responding to reports of a shooting on Higher Road in Urmston on Friday, January 16, emergency services arrived at the scene around 8:40 pm. A 21-year-old man sustained a gunshot wound and received immediate medical attention before being transported to the hospital, according to Greater Manchester Police. As of the latest update provided on Saturday, the man remains in the hospital in a stable but critical condition.
A spokesperson from Greater Manchester Police also announced the arrest of a fifth suspect in connection with the ongoing investigation. Yesterday, a 38-year-old man was taken into custody on suspicion of attempted murder and conspiracy to commit murder. Earlier in the week, four other individuals, aged 18, 21, 25, and 28, were arrested on similar charges, as reported by the Manchester Evening News.
The previously arrested four men have been released on bail pending further inquiries. Detective Chief Inspector Justin Bryant, overseeing GMP’s Trafford district, emphasized the continued efforts to apprehend those involved in the January 16, 2026 incident. He stated, “Our commitment to apprehending individuals linked to this event led to the arrest of five suspects over the course of the week, with the latest arrest occurring overnight. We remain resolute in our stance against such violence in our community, and we hope the public finds assurance in the arrests made thus far.”
