Fire Engulfs Dubai’s Fairmont Hotel amid Missile Attack

Date:

A fire broke out at a hotel located on The Palm in Dubai following an alleged missile attack earlier today. The Fairmont Hotel in Dubai was seen engulfed in flames in images captured at the scene.

The incident occurred not long after reports that the US had initiated ‘major combat operations’ in Iran. Video footage showed the Palm area in Dubai ablaze, with flames reaching multiple levels of the luxurious hotel building, and thick smoke rising into the sky.

Situated in the renowned Palm Jumeirah district, the 5-star hotel offers upscale amenities such as gourmet dining, private beaches, multiple pools, and a spa. Witnesses described a chaotic scene in Palm Jumeirah, with one individual reporting vibrations from an explosion.

Footage also captured people fleeing for safety as air raid sirens blared and a loud bang resonated near the Marina. Eyewitnesses observed debris falling from the sky. Additionally, a video circulating online depicted flames erupting near the City Walk close to the Burj Khalifa.

Authorities in Dubai confirmed an “incident” in the Palm Jumeirah area, with emergency teams dispatched to the site, which has now been secured. The Dubai Civil Defence stated that the fire has been contained.

Four individuals sustained injuries and have been hospitalized, with officials emphasizing the safety of residents and visitors as a top priority. Professional boxer Chris Eubank Jr shared distressing footage on Instagram showing the aftermath of the explosions near the Fairmont hotel, urging everyone to stay safe.

In parallel developments, Israel’s defense minister disclosed a ‘preventative attack’ on Iran, while the US reportedly joined Israel in strikes against Iran across various locations. Iranian cities including Tehran, Isfahan, Tabriz, Kermanshah, and Qom were reportedly targeted, with Iran retaliating by striking US bases in Qatar, Kuwait, UAE, and Bahrain.

Tragically, a fatality was reported in Abu Dhabi after debris fell on a residential area. The situation remains tense, prompting the UK to advise British nationals in Bahrain, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, and Kuwait to seek immediate shelter and follow local authorities’ directives.

Prime Minister Keir Starmer reassured that the UK was not involved in the strikes but acknowledged the presence of British aircraft in the region for security purposes. He condemned the attacks and emphasized the UK’s commitment to preventing further escalation through diplomatic means.

The UN Security Council is scheduled to convene in response to the US-Israel strikes on Iran, with Russia and China calling for an end to what they termed as illegal actions. President Trump issued a strong warning to the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps in Iran, demanding surrender or face severe consequences.

The evolving situation underscores the need for vigilance and adherence to safety protocols. Read more news updates by clicking the provided link.
