A man, aged 52, has been sentenced to 18 years in prison for the rape and sexual assault of two girls. Dominic Mulligan, residing in Farnborough, committed these crimes over a nine-year period until 2012. Mulligan was convicted of these offenses, including the rape of a girl under 13 and a girl under 16, after a trial held at Winchester Crown Court.
The non-recent crimes committed by Mulligan came to light in 2023 when they were reported to the authorities. T/Detective Sergeant Bethan Hastelow of Hart and Rushmoor CID expressed her gratitude to the victims for their courage during the investigation and trial. She emphasized that the lengthy sentence handed to Mulligan should empower other victims to come forward and report similar offenses to the police.
Mulligan faced charges of various sexual offenses between 2003 and 2012, such as rape of a girl under 13, rape of a girl under 16, rape of a woman over 16, among others. He received an 18-year prison term with an additional one-year extended license during his sentencing on January 26. Mulligan was also issued a restraining order and a Sexual Harm Prevention Order, prohibiting him from contacting children and requiring him to be on the Sex Offenders Register for life.
