“UK Braces for Snow: 51 Cities in Path of Blizzards”

Date:

Up to 51 cities in England are bracing for snowfall as a pair of blizzards are poised to sweep through the UK within days.

According to the GFS weather model, the initial onset of heavy snow is expected to hit South Wales, Gloucestershire, Worcestershire, Warwickshire, Oxfordshire, and Buckinghamshire at approximately 9 pm on February 16.

The data indicates that Wales will experience the most intense snow initially, but significant snowfall is projected to extend across much of England in the ensuing hours.

By around 3 am on February 17, snow is forecasted to blanket a wide swath from Wales to East Anglia and the southeast, affecting major cities such as London and Birmingham.

Later on February 17, a second wave of snowfall is expected to traverse the UK. Maps for 6 pm show snow descending from northern Scotland down to the southern coast of England, with a subsequent eastward drift anticipated.

Snowfall projections for the morning of February 18 depict almost the entire UK covered in purple, indicating snow accumulation on the ground. In England, up to 51 cities are likely to be impacted by the blizzards.

The Met Office has indicated that snow is expected in various locations later in the month. The forecast for February 10 to 19 suggests prevailing cyclonic patterns over the UK, with potential slow-moving fronts leading to wet conditions in certain areas, heightened flood risks, and the likelihood of snowfall, particularly in colder air masses.

Additionally, the forecast mentions the possibility of strong winds and temperature variations across different regions during this period.
