A tragic incident occurred in São Sebastião, Brazil, where a 26-year-old mother of two, Renata Yassu Nakama, lost her life after falling out of a moving bus when a window suddenly broke. The bus was packed with passengers, and Renata was leaning against the window when it detached as the bus made a turn, causing her to fall and sustain fatal head injuries.
Despite receiving immediate assistance from passengers and the bus driver stopping, Renata passed away three days later in the hospital due to the severity of her injuries. The heartbreaking incident, which took place on January 2, was captured on video and only released on March 10. Renata would have celebrated her 27th birthday on March 11.
Now, Renata’s bereaved parents are left to care for her two children, as her father, Sérgio Yassu Nakama, seeks support from the local council and the public transport company, Sancetur. Expressing the children’s need for psychological assistance, he highlighted the financial challenges they face in providing necessary support.
Following a court ruling in early February, the council and Sancetur were ordered to provide a monthly allowance equivalent to 2.4 minimum wages to the family. However, the enforcement of this order is pending, with Sancetur claiming to have deposited the payment with the court. The bus driver initially mentioned that Renata was in an unauthorized area on the bus, but the family’s lawyer, Gabriella Prado, argued that the driver’s negligence contributed to the tragic outcome.
The circumstances surrounding the incident are still being investigated to determine accountability and prevent similar accidents in the future.
