Punters at the new Wetherspoons pub in Spain may find themselves paying higher prices compared to the chain’s domestic locations. While the menu items remain reasonably priced, they generally exceed the costs at Wetherspoons’ regular outlets on the high street.
According to company executives, operating pubs in airports entails higher expenses, justifying the elevated prices at the Spanish pub. They highlight that the pricing at this new pub in Spain is in line with Wetherspoons’ existing locations at airports and railway stations in the UK.
For instance, a substantial breakfast in Spain costs 10.25 euros (£8.84), significantly more than the average price of £5.09 in the UK.
To assess the price differences, the Mirror compared the prices at the Alicante pub with those at Wetherspoons’ Solihull pub in the West Midlands and Gatwick Airport. It is important to note that some products vary in size and ingredients, complicating direct comparisons.
Key items analyzed include Margherita pizza, All day brunch, Classic burger, Chicken, eggs, and beans, Pint of Stella Artois, Asahi beer, Pint of Greene King Abbot Ale, Guinness 0.0, and Coca Cola/Pepsi (398ml).
