A man has been convicted of killing his infant stepson in Swansea after a heated argument with his former girlfriend. Thomas Morgan, 29, was found guilty of the murder of five-month-old Jensen-Lee Dougal, who suffered fatal injuries including severe brain damage, multiple fractures, and extensive retinal bleeding.
During the trial at Swansea Crown Court, it was revealed that Morgan, residing in Gorseinon, had been in a relationship with Jensen-Lee’s mother, Jordan Dougal, and was considered the child’s stepfather. Prosecutors stated that Morgan breached the trust placed in him by violently assaulting the baby on March 30, 2024, the day before Jensen-Lee’s tragic death.
Following a dispute with his ex-partner, Georgia Griffiths, Morgan was left alone with Jensen-Lee while the baby’s mother was at work. Subsequently, Morgan contacted Ms. Dougal, informing her that the baby was choking and had stopped breathing. Jensen-Lee was rushed to the hospital, where medical professionals discovered the extent of his injuries, leading to the decision to remove life support the next day.
Caroline Rees KC, the prosecutor, emphasized that Morgan’s actions, fueled by anger from his argument with Griffiths, resulted in fatal injuries to Jensen-Lee, culminating in the infant’s untimely death at just five months old. Morgan denied causing the severe harm to Jensen-Lee and claimed he attempted to help the baby when he became unwell. Sentencing for Morgan is scheduled for a later date.
