“Jet2 Flight Chaos: Passengers Banned After Mid-Air Altercation”

Date:

Two unruly passengers were removed from a Jet2 flight destined for Manchester by Belgian authorities following an altercation mid-flight. The airline has banned the individuals due to their unacceptable behavior, as video footage of the incident reveals chaos onboard.

The viral video circulating on social media depicts multiple passengers getting involved in the altercation during flight LS896 from Antalya, Turkey, on February 12. The footage shows three men in the aisle, with one attempting to grab a passenger’s phone and then reaching towards another individual.

Amid the chaos, one passenger is pushed back while another tries to defuse the situation, only to be interrupted by a third passenger gesturing towards someone else and escalating the conflict further.

Passengers can be heard shouting in the video, with one urging everyone to “Get back.” Subsequently, more passengers, including a woman, join the altercation, as reported by the Manchester Evening News.

Later, a passenger is seen in a headlock by another traveler on-board. Meanwhile, a cabin crew member guides the initial instigator towards the back of the aircraft, with other passengers standing up to monitor the situation as shouts and screams fill the cabin.

Towards the end of the edited footage, a police officer is seen lifting one passenger off the floor, while another repeatedly calls out, “Time to go.” Authorities intervened by boarding the aircraft after it was rerouted to Brussels, eventually reaching Manchester late that evening.

A Jet2 spokesperson stated, “Flight LS896 from Antalya to Manchester diverted to Brussels due to the appalling behavior of two disruptive passengers. They were removed by police in Brussels, and the flight proceeded to Manchester. The disruptive passengers will face a lifetime ban from flying with us, and we will seek to recover the costs incurred from this diversion. As a family-friendly airline, we have a zero-tolerance policy towards disruptive behavior, and we regret the inconvenience caused to other passengers and our staff.”
